Back in April, React! held a 2-day showcase with bands such as 7 Seconds, Betrayed, Mindset, Get The Most, and ON. I really wanted to go, but due to certain reasons, I didn’t (and I hope I don’t miss the next one). All of that aside, I’ve been trying to get one of these limited showcase box sets ever since the showcase ended. Well, a couple of weeks ago, it seems that persistence and patience finally payed off as I finally won a set on eBay for what seemed pretty inexpensive.
The set contains five EPs; two from Mindset, and one each from Gone But Not Forgotten, Praise, and Damages. Each record is on black vinyl with a stamped dust sleeve. No covers, just a pretty cool booklet with the liner notes, lyrics, and some pretty cool stories about each band. The records are bound together with a ribbon, which I see no reason to untie since I own each of these EPs individually. The set also included some stickers, download codes, essays, and two posters (which aren’t pictured). The box itself is screenprinted, which is pretty cool, but I’ve noticed that the print is starting to wear off a bit. This just means I need to find a good place to store it. The last thing to mention is that only 94 of these box sets were made; I happen to have number 87. Now for some photos…

I was also able to get a couple of other React! releases that I’ve been missing from the same seller that I got the box set from. The first one was the record release version of the Mindset “Time & Pressure” EP. It was limited to 100 copies on yellow vinyl with a stamped dust sleeve, and it completes my collection* of this record, which kind of makes up for my pathetic “REALPOWER” collection (if you want to call it that).

Lastly, I was able to get the band press (150 copies on transparent blue vinyl) of the ON “Double Vision” LP, which almost completes this collection (I’m missing the Reaper version on gray vinyl). Unfortunately, I noticed a small chip on the outer edge of the record. I didn’t notice any cracks around it, so I hope it’ll be ok. I guess I can check this off as the first damaged record I own, technically speaking.

I’m so glad that I can cross these records off of my React! checklist, but the quest continues!
*If you don’t count the test press. It’s always easier not to care about test presses rather than trying to track them down and pay stupid amounts of money (although, I have done it).
